Client Problem

A factory had a confirmed case of Covid-19 and had to close.

The area needed to be fully sanitised in order for the employees to enter the factory and production to continue.

How we helped

Following the initial call, quotation and acceptance, our technicians were allocated the work. The technicians arrived on site and carried out the full deep clean, decontamination and wet fogging within 48 hours of the initial call.

All areas were thoroughly deep cleaned, all touch points sanitised using an EPA tested anti-viral cleaner. Finally, wet fogging with hospital grade disinfectant was carried out in of all areas to ensure any airborne particles disturbed from the cleaning process were neutralised.

After the wet fogging process, random areas were swab tested to ensure of cleanliness. Green = Clean!

During the month of February Siva has completed a 100 mile walk/run in aid of Refuge. Not only did he achieve this, he did it whilst recovering from COVID-19. The event took place straight after Siva was ill with COVID-19, which made it far more of a challenge than planned. Despite all of the odds, Siva managed to complete the walk/run for the event. It was very tough to start with, as Siva’s fitness was very poor following the bout of COVID-19. As a commercial cleaning provider, the latest lockdown has been quite challenging to manage. ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Leicester explain how they are stepping up with their commercial cleaning as Lockdown easing begins.

Approximately 20% of our clients needed to close with other clients having had to reduce their service considerably due to reduced workforce at their workplace.

This hasn’t been the case across the board and in contrast, many of our clients, in particular our Healthcare sites, have remained open throughout. In a lot of these cases we have either increased the frequency of our cleaning services to supply sanitising during the day, or seen an uplift in the days we are requested to clean.

Whether our clients have remained open and required additional cleaning or for those sites that have remained open but with a Skeleton staff, we have been able to be flexible and manage the changes in requirements efficiently and effectively.

Managing the changes to ensure we consistently meet our client’s requirements has been challenging at times. On occasion, we have utilised the government Furlough scheme for staff unable to operate at their contracted place of work, this has ensured that we have been able to retain our valuable employees and ensure our workforce are safe and ready to resume services as soon as our clients can open again. For sites that have reduced their service, we have managed our workforce, to help our clients, and adapted accordingly. It is important that we can be adaptable and ensure our clients have confidence in us to be able to adapt to whatever their needs may be, and continue to build on our strong relationship.

As lockdown is eased, we believe that cleaning will be a top priority for all clients. It will be more important than ever to provide a clean and safe environment for staff, visitors, customers, patients, students or whoever may use their facility.

We know that there will be changes, we anticipate a lot of our existing clients increasing their current cleaning service, or at least returning to the full contracted service they had in place prior to lockdown, to ensure that their premises are regularly and thoroughly cleaned.

For businesses that chose to capitalise on the success of staff working from home and where office space and working numbers may reduce, we will be working with our clients to put together a suitable amended cleaning service. For our clients that are due to re-open, we already have plans in place to bring employees back to site and can start as soon as required.

We see this predominantly in the CQC Healthcare sector, a strong and growing client base of ours, and one we fully expect to continue.

We anticipate there will be an increase in demand for professional commercial cleaning as lockdown eases. Although this is a little difficult to predict, the measures we have put in place in providing our regular service, and the relationships our well organised and hardworking Operations teams have with their clients, will allow us to respond and adapt quickly to any changes and to any given circumstance or additional requirements from both new and existing clients.

Client Problem

A retail premises had reported a backed up soil pipe which resulted in raw sewage making its way on to the shop floor. This immediately meant that there would be significant business interruption.

How we helped

The incident happened during the day and had become a business critical peril, therefore we need to act promptly and precisely in order to get the job done.

Our technicians arrived to the site within 48 hours and worked overnight. All standing sewage water and solids were extracted using a wet vac. We then treated areas with an anti-microbial and disinfectant ensuring all the areas were sanitized thoroughly, then the floor was damp mopped.

Chris Blewitt has owned and managed ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Durham & Teesside for nearly three years and has grown a reputation among his clients for providing a highly professional cleaning service which has been particularly valued over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Having been brought up in a family-owned and operated Dry Cleaning and Laundry business in the North East, which traded for over 30 years, he then gained over 25 years in operational roles for successful blue-chip organisations – managing large teams of people.
