ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP staff member awarded a prestigious award by Leicester City Football Club.

Davinder Ghattoura, Leicester Supervisor for ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP, has been awarded the Active Woman 2023 award by Leicester City Football Club as part of their Leicester City in the Community programme.

Davinder attended an event at King Power Stadium, where she won their most prestigious award.

The accolade recognises her contributions to their Active Women programme.

Moreover, it also recognises Davinder’s embodiment of their core values: engage, inspire and empower through togetherness.

Leicester City Active Women

The Active Woman programme encourages sports engagement for women aged 18-49.

Davinder also won a football signed by the LCFC Women’s Team!

Winning the award means a huge amount to Davinder, who, less than a year ago, featured on ITV news representing the programme, and says she is honoured.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she says. “[What was] even more special was sharing this moment with my mum, who had attended with me. [It was] such a proud moment for us to share.”

“The Active Women project has become a part of my life,” she adds.

“I have tried my best at everything I have attended.”

“I will proudly hold the title of Active Women 2023 to engage and inspire more women this year and for years to come.”

The team at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services would like to say a massive well done to Davinder.

We eagerly look forward to seeing how she helps to shape the Active Women programme in the future.

Teaming up with the Trussell Trust Network, an organisation that supports a nationwide network of over 1,300 food banks providing emergency food and aid to people facing hardship while campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

Commenting on the initiative, Denise Ces Agraso, Head of Pensions, Payroll and HR at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP says:

How ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP are working with Impact Hero to support the environment with Grow My Tree initiatives.

In today’s world, climate change is an ever-growing factor in our lives and social and moral consciousness.

This naturally affects the way we, as a society, are doing business.

Particularly as more businesses recognise the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), as over 52% of business owners believe that a successful CSR strategy can add value to a business.

However, when it comes to sustainability and green initiatives – according to Forbes – although 90% of companies think sustainability is essential, only 60% have implemented a sustainability strategy.

The team at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP are amongst the minority of businesses in the UK, including other ServiceMaster Clean businesses, who are affecting positive change with tree planting initiatives.

Grow My Tree Initiatives

This year, the award-winning team at LNP teamed up with Impact Hero, a platform that empowers companies like ServiceMaster Clean to embody a Net Positive approach to business.

Together, they are working to plant a tree in honour of every new client that achieves a specific spend as part of the team’s ongoing commitment to fight climate change and as an effective and sustainable way forward.

This naturally combats climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, outputting oxygen, and ensuring healthy soil.

One new tree neutralises approximately 22kg of carbon dioxide, and since August, the team have planted 16 trees, the offsetting outcome of which is approximate to the carbon dioxide output of:

  • Consuming 9,600g of beef
  • Consuming 2544kg of vegetables
  • 16 train journeys between Cologne – Munich
  • 3,68% of one person’s annual CO2 emissions

Denise Ces Agraso, Head of Payroll, Pensions, and HR at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP, says:

“We are delighted to report that since teaming up with Impact Hero, we have planted 16 trees!”

“We believe that taking action against climate change is crucial, and we are proud to offer this unique opportunity to new clients.”

“Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment.”

Would you pass your next CQC audit?

As a care provider, be it a GP Surgery, dentist, care home or private clinic, it is essential that you maintain stringent hygiene standards.

Maintaining a clean environment:

  • Ensures patient and staff safety
  • Prevents and controls infections
  • Reassures patients

But following the update to the UK government’s National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, care providers must ensure they adhere to specific criteria regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC is an independent regulatory body operating throughout the UK that monitors, inspects, and regulates health and social care providers.

New frameworks – CQC Key Questions and Quality Statements

The new framework employed by the CQC ensures that care providers adhere to standards across five key areas:

  1. Safety
  2. Effectiveness
  3. Care
  4. Responsivity

These are known as quality statements. Which the CQC defines as “the commitments that providers, commissioners, and system leaders should live up to.”

A staff member from ServiceMaster LNP has been featured on ITV News as part of a story on International Women’s Day.

Davinder Ghattoura, one of the Area Supervisors at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services in Leicester, has become a local hero after featuring in a story for ITV News.

The story, for International Women’s Day, focused on an initiative from Leicester City Football Club to encourage women into the sport.

The Leicester City Active Women programme is headed by Rukshana Hussain, who aims to support local women by helping them get into the sport to improve their social and physical skills.

Davinder, who works for ServiceMaster LNP, was interviewed by ITV News’ Arul Lal as one of the many women who have taken part in and benefitted from the scheme since it launched in May 2022.

Speaking on the importance of women’s contribution and participation in football and other sports, Davinder told ITV News:

“Women need to be recognised.”

“You’re not just the housewife doing the cooking,” she said.

“You can go out there, you can do sports. Any sport you like.”

Davinder also highlighted the significance of schemes like Leicester City Active Women, which foster belief and encourage women from all backgrounds to break out of traditional societal expectations and moulds.

Particularly the support from other women, Davinder says.

“You need to get encouragement from other women.”

Heading towards its first anniversary, the scheme’s leader says it goes beyond football, as there is such value in providing a community for women who need a space, a voice, and encouragement from their peers.

Client Problem:

The client was not satisfied with their existing cleaning service provider and had notified them that they would not be discontinuing using their service

The service provider subsequently ended their services abruptly without providing notice

The client required a new cleaning service provider and cover cleaning in the interim to tide them over until a new contract was finalised

How we helped

We received the initial enquiry and made contact immediately and scheduled a meeting that was most accommodating for the client.

The initial meeting involved discussing the clients’ needs and conducting a survey.

Our first priority was to arrange cover cleaning on short notice to solve the immediate problem of no cleaning being undertaken. The ad hoc service was to run from a Monday to Friday, initially, with the view of moving to 7 days a week.

Next a task schedule was compiled and proposed to the client. The client was extremely happy with the task schedule, which he compared to a menu, being able to add or subtract cleaning requirements as necessary. The client did obtain 2 other quotations, but was most impressed with our approach to the scheduled cleaning, and therefore, awarded us the contract.

Our aim is to help all of our existing clients and new clients to stay open or reopen as smoothly, as efficiently and as safely as possible.

The benefit

The client has follow-ups on a regular basis

The client is impressed and extremely happy with the level of service

The client added additional areas to be serviced, and intends to add more areas in the near future.

As a commercial cleaning provider, the latest lockdown has been quite challenging to manage. ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Leicester explain how they are stepping up with their commercial cleaning as Lockdown easing begins.

Approximately 20% of our clients needed to close with other clients having had to reduce their service considerably due to reduced workforce at their workplace.

This hasn’t been the case across the board and in contrast, many of our clients, in particular our Healthcare sites, have remained open throughout. In a lot of these cases we have either increased the frequency of our cleaning services to supply sanitising during the day, or seen an uplift in the days we are requested to clean.

Whether our clients have remained open and required additional cleaning or for those sites that have remained open but with a Skeleton staff, we have been able to be flexible and manage the changes in requirements efficiently and effectively.

Managing the changes to ensure we consistently meet our client’s requirements has been challenging at times. On occasion, we have utilised the government Furlough scheme for staff unable to operate at their contracted place of work, this has ensured that we have been able to retain our valuable employees and ensure our workforce are safe and ready to resume services as soon as our clients can open again. For sites that have reduced their service, we have managed our workforce, to help our clients, and adapted accordingly. It is important that we can be adaptable and ensure our clients have confidence in us to be able to adapt to whatever their needs may be, and continue to build on our strong relationship.

As lockdown is eased, we believe that cleaning will be a top priority for all clients. It will be more important than ever to provide a clean and safe environment for staff, visitors, customers, patients, students or whoever may use their facility.

We know that there will be changes, we anticipate a lot of our existing clients increasing their current cleaning service, or at least returning to the full contracted service they had in place prior to lockdown, to ensure that their premises are regularly and thoroughly cleaned.

For businesses that chose to capitalise on the success of staff working from home and where office space and working numbers may reduce, we will be working with our clients to put together a suitable amended cleaning service. For our clients that are due to re-open, we already have plans in place to bring employees back to site and can start as soon as required.

Our bespoke cleaning service means that our Cleaning Task Schedules have always been bespoke to each client, this will continue and each Task Schedule will be adjusted to meet each of our client’s requirements. Since COVID-19 there has been a particular focus on the sanitising of all touchpoints, light switches, door handles and handrails etc and we anticipate this continuing to be a priority for the foreseeable.

We have already seen evidence that cleaning has definitely become more of a priority for everyone. Cleaning has likely been undervalued as a service prior to COVID-19 but, with such importance for good hygiene and cleaning standards, we see that it is now a much more valued service. We see this predominantly in the CQC Healthcare sector, a strong and growing client base of ours, and one we fully expect to continue.

We anticipate there will be an increase in demand for professional commercial cleaning as lockdown eases. Although this is a little difficult to predict, the measures we have put in place in providing our regular service, and the relationships our well organised and hardworking Operations teams have with their clients, will allow us to respond and adapt quickly to any changes and to any given circumstance or additional requirements from both new and existing clients.

Our aim is to help all of our existing clients and new clients to stay open or reopen as smoothly, as efficiently and as safely as possible.

ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Leicester, Northampton and Peterborough are proud to be supporting a very worthwhile charity “Scotty’s Little Soldiers”.

Sandra Webster has worked at ServiceMaster as Operations Manager for over 28 years now and has this to say:

‘My Grandchildren lost their father in Afghanistan 10yrs ago at the end of June, and my granddaughter was 6 at the time. As her father was in the para’s she has said from an early age that once she reached 16yrs she would do a sponsored parachute jump for the charity that has supported both her and her brother since the time of their fathers passing. Having just turned 16 she has now been able to put this in place. Her charity is Scotty’s Little Soldiers, an amazing charity that have given so much support when needed, and run by army wives and ex-army wives. She will be doing the parachute jump on her father’s memorial day 27th June. In just a couple of weeks she has raised an astounding amount of over £1,774 from generous donations for this worthwhile cause, this even more amazing being that the original target was £500.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting children & young people who have lost a parent whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.

Inspired by the experience of Army widow Nikki Scott following the death of her husband Cpl Lee Scott in Afghanistan in 2009, the charity is currently providing assistance to hundreds of bereaved Forces children around the UK.
